Coca Cola hasnt really changed their logo much in decades because it works but they have gone with different messages that fit their brand.
Here are some examples of Big Brands that changed their message or tried to use their Brand in another niche that didn’t make sense.
Colgate is known for its toothpaste, right? Well Colgate has done very well with that brand and product.
Until in 1982 they decided to make a change and use their super tasty Colgate brand to make Colgate meals.
Who thinks of a frothy mouth of toothpaste and associates with a tasty meal. Anyway its True and Hilarious.
Panasonic was breaking into a competitive Personal Computer market. They wanted their device to stand out so they called it “The Woody” and used Woody the woodpecker to brand it. Woodpeckers and personal computers have nothing in common. However the hilarious part is they named one of the features “Touch Woody” of their Woody computer. Ask a few people their opinion to audit your idea before you decide on a brand logo, message, or slogan. You never know what they may catch. Panasonic and the “Touch Woody” shouldve been caught by someone in the organization.
Hannah Montana was a huge hit for Disney achieving great popularity worldwide. Disney decided they would release a number of Hannah Montana related products to capitalize on the brand. Hannah Montana Cherries was unrelated to the show and truly hilarious. It was a brief and very funny product that was released. Check out this Branding Mistake lol
